Re-Dedication Ceremony
Dave and I arrived a few minutes early for the
re-dedication ceremony of the replaced
Olympic tree that was presented to the University of Southern
California on behalf of the 1936 USA Olympic
400 Meter Relay Team consisting of anchor, Frank C.
Wykoff; Ralph Metcalfe; Jesse Owens; and Foy Draper.
Arriving at the same time as my husband and me was
Velma Dunn Ploessel, Silver Medalist -- Diving 1936
Olympics. It was a real pleasure meeting her
as well as Jerry Papazian whom I had been
communicating with via e-mail for a year now.
It was a thrill to finally meet him in person, and I
decided to take advantage of the moment by
snapping a photo of both of them together.
